Top Sports Stories According To Twitter #2: To Shoot Or Not To Shoot That Is The Question

Trail Blazer Media Day

News broke out before the last game of the 2016-2017 NBA season that Moe Harkless of the Portland Trailblazers had a significant amount of money on the line. Harkless had a performance incentive in his contract that if he shot at least 35% from 3-point territory that he would receive a bonus of $500,000. Now this is nothing new for professional athletes to have incentives in their contracts based on their personal performance. This is even common for performance based positions in the business world. Harkless’ 3-point percentage was sitting at 35.1%. So the question was raised “Should Harkless attempt a 3-point field goal or not?” Some were on the side of “yes” but there was a resounding group of people on the side of “no”.

Let’s take to Twitter to see what it had to say.

Shooters shoot, but in this case it could have backfired on Harkless. I personally stand with Harkless on this one. Some people say that you have to play your game not matter what and shoot, but it's easy for them to say that because they didn't have $500,000 to lose.
