Top Sports Stories According To Twitter #5: Beating The Shift


Chicago Cubs outfielder, Kyle Schwarber, did something the other night for the first time in his career that not only shocked the team he was playing against, the Milwaukee Brewers, but also the entire fan base that was watching. In order to beat the shift that the Brewers were in, Schwarber dropped down a text book bunt for a base hit. What made this play so unexpected was that it came from Schwarber, who is more known for swinging as hard as he can in order to hit the ball as far over the fence as possible.

Let’s see what Twitter had to say about Schwarber’s first career bunt.


In baseball you have to hit them where they ain't. But in this case you bunt them where they ain't. Maybe more people will take a page out of Schwarber's book on how to beat the shift.
