The First Round Of The NFL Draft Aka The Cleveland Browns Circus

For the most part last night, the first round of the 2017 NFL draft went as planned. Roger Goodell was welcomed to the podium by a resounding amount of boos from the fans that gathered in Philadelphia. Myles Garret was taken by the Cleveland Browns with the first overall pick. And a bunch of teams took a receiver with their first round pick (Shout out to Matt Millen). Oh and the New Orleans Saints apparently don’t know who they drafted because they Tweeted out a picture of Raekwon McMillan not Marshon Lattimore, who they drafted. Sure there was some excitement as the Chicago Bears traded the house to move up one pick to draft Mitchell Trubisky with the second overall pick (The reaction of the Bears fans to this move was priceless. Let’s just say they weren’t too pleased to say the least). And of course the Browns did what the Browns do and traded down in the first round of the draft with their second pick so that they weren’t able to draft one of the decent quarterback prospects in this year’s draft.

Let’s check in with Twitter to see how the first round went.

The winner of the first round: Houston Texans. The loser: Cleveland Browns. Obviously. Feel good stories of the night. Deshaun Watson's mother. The 14 year old Baltimore Ravens fan, T.J. Onwuanibe, who overcame cancer and announced the Ravens first pick in the draft last night. And Takaarist McKinley holding a picture of his grandmother while getting drafted by the Atlanta Falcons. Overall a pretty good opening night to the 2017 NFL draft.
