The Yankees And Cubs Played 18 Innings Last Night Mainly Because Of Joe West

With the ever growing technology in the sports world today, sports officials have been put under a microscope. And since the introduction of K-Zone, Major League Baseball umpires are very highly scrutinized. None more than Joe West. And last night was no exception when West was behind the plate for the Yankees/Cubs game. The game ended up going 18 innings which gave people an extra 9 innings to criticize West’s balls and strikes calls.

Let’s see what Twitter was chirping about on this.

The addition of replay in baseball has helped to make sure the umpires are getting the calls right. But I don't think replay will ever be used for balls and strikes. Major League Baseball is trying to speed the game up not slow it down. And replaying balls and strikes would only make matters worse. So for now the players and we as fans are stuck with arguing and criticizing the umpire's strike zone until someone comes up with the solution.
