Toronto Blue Jays outfielder, Kevin Pillar, wasn’t too happy after being quick pitched by Atlanta Braves pitcher, Jason Motte, and he let Motte know it. Out of his frustration of striking out Pillar yelled something in the direction of Motte. Both benches cleared but nothing really surmounted. After looking at the replay it appeared as if Pillar shouted out a homophobic slur at Motte. Major League Baseball immediately launched an investigation of Pillar’s actions.
Let’s see what Twitter had to say about this.
I applaud Kevin Pillar for admitting he was out of line and making no excuse for it. If you can do that, people can forgive and move on!

I love Kevin Pillar, but hate speech has no place in baseball and he should be suspended for what he did last night. Set a better example KP

The Kevin Pillar stuff is another example of how the world needs to calm down and quit being so overly sensitive about everything. #smh

If you're one of the people complaining about Kevin Pillar being suspended for using a gay slur; you're what's wrong with this world.

I do not condone what Kevin Pillar said but he's owned up to it, apologized & been punished. It's a learning experience. #BlueJays

There's no excusing what #kevinpillar said. What he did right, though, is what we tell our boys on the daily: own the mistake.

Kevin Pillar made a mistake. He owned up to it and apologized to not only to Jason Motte, but the LGBT community. Props for owning up to it

Kevin Pillar overreacted, causing the public to overreact, which in turn, made the Blue Jays overreact. Welcome to 2017.

Hey friends: Kevin Pillar is not *really* Superman. He's indeed human. Humans make mistakes to be learned from, especially while emotional.

@KPILLAR4 Thank you. As a gay man I accept your apology & I also know that what came out of your mouth didn't stem from Hatred. I know the difference

Pillar has since come out and apologized for his actions in a post game interview and via social media. The Blue Jays in an effort to get ahead of the MLB investigation have issued a statement of their own and have suspended Pillar for two games. Either way this incident is not a good look for the Blue Jays organization who many didn't need another excuse to hate them.
