Mookie Wilson Pretty Much Thought Of Barney The Dinosaur To Break Out Of Slumps

Professional athletes are creatures of habit. They have a routine to everything they do. Some of these routines aren’t much to talk about but some of them can be a little weird. Athletes can also be very superstitious when it comes to how they are playing. None more so than Major League Baseball players. Especially when it comes to a slump. Baseball players will try anything in order to break out of a slump. From not washing their uniform to wearing the same pair of underwear to even not having sex. Former New York Mets outfielder Mookie Wilson may have had the best slump buster technique ever. This was Wilson’s strategy “When I’m in a slump, I comfort myself by saying if I believe in dinosaurs, then somewhere, they must be believing in me. And if they believe in me, then I can believe in me. Then I bust out.”

Let’s see what Twitter thought of Wilson’s slump busting strategy.

I tried some interesting things in order to break out of a slump in my playing days but never quite as unique as this. Recently the most interesting slump busting strategy that I heard about was Milwaukee Brewers outfield Keon Broxton putting his bats in a charging station. Pretty creative. Anyhow, apparently this quote by Mookie Wilson may not be real. Either way, whether it’s fake or not, I think we can all agree this is a very bold strategy. Let’s now all sing the following song and think of Mookie’s odd technique while we do. Everybody all together now.
