Buster Posey Apparently Is A Lover Not A Fighter

Normally in baseball when a batter is about to charge the mound, the catcher will get in between the batter and the pitcher in order to protect his pitcher from getting hurt. Yesterday in a game between the Washington Nationals and the San Francisco Giants this was not the case. After Giants pitcher, Hunter Strickland, drilled Nationals Bryce Harper in the leg with a fastball, Giants catcher Buster Posey didn’t even flinch when Harper charged the mound. Posey was the last person to have the back of his pitcher as even the players from each bullpen arrived at the mound before Posey even moved.

Let’s see what Twitter thought of Posey failing to come to the defense of his pitcher.

Obviously Posey wanted nothing to do with that fight. His response about only catching baseballs and not hands was classic. Not sure how well it is going to go over with the clubhouse but it was classic nonetheless. I guess we all know that Posey is the last person we want on our side if we are ever in a fight. Here is how your catcher should react in this situation.
