I am a huge advocate of the idea that your birthday should serve as a holiday and everyone should have their birthday off from work. Your birthday should be a day to celebrate, a day to enjoy, a day to be thankful for making it another year, and a day that you’re appreciated for being you. Nothing bad should happen on your birthday. Apparently the Sacramento Kings don’t have this same train of thought. Over the weekend the Kings sent out a tweet wishing Anthony Tolliver a very happy birthday, but then only mere hours later they decided to cut him. What an absolute savage move.
Here’s what people were saying about this crazy move by the Kings.

The work @ATolliver44 did in the Sacramento community during his short stay was very impressive.

Anthony Tolliver had a June 1 trigger date to guarantee his contract for next season. Kings will now take a $2m cap hit instead of $8m.

Was it fair or foul for the #Kings to waive Anthony Tolliver on his birthday?

Some kind of birthday present. The Kings out there like "Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday dear Anthony. Happy Birthday to you. Now you're fired." Like they couldn't have waited one more day? At least let the man celebrate his birthday in peace. But I guess that is business. Business can be cruel sometimes. In this case, very cruel.
