Scooter Gennett Had Himself A Night Going 5-5 With 4 Homeruns And 10 RBIs

Cincinnati Reds Scooter Gennett became the 17th player in Major League Baseball history to hit four homeruns in a single game. You’re probably asking yourself right now “Who is Scooter Gennett?” Because outside of Reds circles, not too many people know the name Scooter Gennett. That’s sure to change now after a four-home-run game that puts Gennett among rare company in the MLB record books.

Let’s see what people thought of Gennett’s rare feat.

What makes this feat even better is that Gennett isn't even a regular starter for the Reds and isn't really a homerun hitter. Gennett had only 4 homeruns in 58 games (161 plate appearances) dating back to last September. In fact Gennett had only 6 total homeruns for the whole season in 2013 and 2015. And what might be even better than this crazy feat by Gennett is how he came up with the name Scooter. According to Wikipedia, Gennett said he adopted the name as a 5-year-old fan of the Muppets character Scooter and used it as a permanent alias after his mother, Tina, tried to impart a lesson about buckling his seat belt with a trip to a police station for a lecture. In fear of getting arrested, Gennett told the police officer that his name was Scooter and ever since then Gennett no longer answered to the name Ryan. Whether his real name is Ryan or Scooter, I think it's safe to say people are now going to know who Scooter Gennett is.
