Not only did we have Phil Mickelson withdraw from the U.S. Open yesterday, but apparently the blimp withdrew as well. It was an ominous scene at the first round of the U.S. Open as the blimp providing the aerial coverage of the course seemed to have caught fire and crashed into the woods at Erin Hills. It appeared as if the pilot had parachuted out of the blimp while it was going down and managed to only suffer minor injuries. Here’s what people were saying about this shocking scene.

Hoping the folks in the blimp and on the ground near Erin Hills/the US Open are okay--that video's pretty startling.

What a crazy scene. In all of my years watching sports, I have never scene or even heard of a blimp crashing. This has got to be a first. Fortunately, it seems as if no one was seriously hurt in this incident. Thank God.
