As trade talks of the Cleveland Cavaliers building their own super team by acquiring Indiana’s Paul George and/or Chicago’s Jimmy Butler via trade to compete with the Golden State Warriors, news broke that the Cavs shockingly parted ways with their GM David Griffin. If this wasn’t bad enough, Trent Redden the Cavs senior vice president of basketball operations is also leaving the organization. This seems like a very inopportune time to get rid of your entire front office as trade rumors between your team and two NBA super stars heat up. Cavaliers super star Lebron James said he is “disappointed” at Griffin’s departure, as well as the timing, and is “concerned” about what this portends for the Cavs going forward. Let’s see what others were saying about this ill-timed departure of the Cavs front office.

Apparently making the Finals 3 years in a row doesn’t guarantee you a job. David Griffin’s out as GM of the Cavs. https://t.co/FsYS3PIJNM

Cavs owner Dan Gilbert, just like that, just issued a statement that he and GM David Griffin have mutually agreed NOT to extend his contract

Today was the 1-year anniversary of the Cavs winning the 1st championship in franchise history and the day David Griffin walked out the door
— Dave McMenamin (@mcten) June 20, 2017
Per @mcten, David Griffin removed himself from organization because he realized his vision for the Cavs didn't match that of Dan Gilbert's.

Apparently Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert and Griffin weren't seeing eye to eye and Gilbert showed Griffin the door. I guess making the NBA Finals three years in a row and winning a NBA Championship doesn't give you job security these days.
