The NBA Draft Happened Pretty Much Exactly How We Thought It Would

In the famous words of Dennis Green “The NBA Draft was what we thought it was.” After all the trade talk leading up to the draft, the 2017 NBA Draft didn’t really live up to the hype. It pretty much happened exactly how we thought it would happen. Markelle Fultz was taken with the #1 overall pick. The Los Angeles Lakers took Lonzo Ball with the second pick in the draft. And after the night was over with, Paul George was still an Indiana Pacer and Kristaps Porzingis was still a New York Knick. The only real shock of the night was the Chicago Bulls traded Jimmy Butler to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Not the Cleveland Cavaliers. Not the Boston Celtics. Not even the Lakers. But the freakin’ Timberwolves. Here is what people are saying about the first night of the 2017 NBA Draft.

The winners of the night as of right now are looking like the Philadelphia Seventy-Sixers who trade up to get Markelle Fultz in order to apparently complete the process. And the Lakers got their man Lonzo Ball. The loser hands down has to be the Chicago Bulls. They traded away their best player, Butler, and their first round pick for some role players and Lauri Markkanen. Time will tell how this move pans out for the Bulls, but as of right now, it's not looking so hot.

There you have it. The first round of the 2017 NBA Draft. Pretty uneventful if you ask me.
