MLB Umpire Talks Woman Off Of Ledge On The Roberto Clemente Bridge

MLB umpire John Tumpane was just trying to get in some exercise before umpiring the Pittsburgh Pirates game that night. So Tumpane set out on an afternoon run on the Roberto Clemente Bridge. While he was on his run, he noticed a woman climb over the railing and look towards the Allegheny River. After realizing that the woman wanted to jump to her death, the 34-year-old umpire sprung into action. Here is what people are saying about Tumpane’s heroic effort in saving this woman’s life.

Wow! What a great story. It's not everyday you hear a story about someone saving another person's life. And this week we have had two of them. We had Dr. Jerry Poche save an elderly fan's life Monday night in Omaha during game one of the College World Series and now we have John Tumpane saving a woman's life today. It would be remiss of me to not mention this. When I read this story the first thing that popped into my mind was this scene from the movie 'Yes Man'.
